Last weekend, our team headed up to Melaka for our first over"seas" race of the year. It was a local Melaka race and only when we reached the destination dat we realise dat the race was not exactly very competitive. But anyhow, we still managed to haf a short weekend getaway =)

Picture taken on the bus - On our way to Melaka

Practice at the canal. The water level was freaking low.

And guess in terms of equipment, we did haf a "culture shock".The paddles were freaking heavy and not standardized in terms of length, width and even height! The shaft was pretty rough and many of us suffered blisters from our first practice. Besides the paddles, even the boat was of a different make, thou lighter wat we used in SG. We dun even haf to wear life vests to compete. The vests were just left on the boat. So just in case anything happens, the organizer can say that ..yes the rowers have been issued life vests.

The 2 teams pacing with each other during the practice. Picture taken from a bridge.

We stayed at this apartment - Water City Apartment. The view was nice, air was fresh haha..and 4 of us shared one apartment, except for my group. haa. And I was with WX in the same apartment. Our 3rd time rooming tog?

R & R @ Jonkers Walk during the evening (first day). I cant believe i bought 50 RM of magnetic clips which I distributed to my PE colleagues and the rest, given as prizes to one of the classes i played a game with. haha

Race day. Our one and only race for the ENTIRE event. There were a total of 3 teams, with 2 being "zi ji ren" and the third team, a local team made up of matured ladies. They represented a religious group in Melaka but actually this particular grp has been listed as a cult group in SG. woo..

Anyway, our race was the only race whereby the drummers are the ones holding the rope at the start line. There was freaking no rules and regulations.

To mk our trip to Melaka more fruitful, we had another pacing session immediately after our official race.

I was the drummer for Boat A of the men's team. haha think I looked quite xiong! woo..

A collision and foul play happened. Dun tink i wanna elaborate further. The race ended q ugly. bUT on the flip side of it, i've learnt a valuable lesson on sportsmanship from their race! Which I have been sharing with my kids,
